Check out this article from the professionals at Hubspot who definitely know how to earn attention from their prospects and clients. To summarize:
  • Some sales and marketing people really do steal time from their customers. According to this article, it's stealing when you take someone's time and give them nothing in return.
  • Globally, only 3 percent of people say they trust sales and marketing professionals (ouch!).
  • When customers receive an unwanted "outreach", 85 percent say their opinion of that company goes down.
  • Here's how not to steal customer's time:
    • Entertain and you'll earn attention.
    • Content that informs and educates will earn attention.
    • If you have someone fill out a form, give them something in return to earn their attention.
    • Ask for permission in an email and you'll earn their attention.
    • Make a sales call  where the objective is to understand, not close a deal and you will earn attention.
