Here's a synopsis of an article from Marketing Profs that details the usage of blogs and social media by Fortune 500 companies. It's based on a report from UMass Dartmouth that can be found here.  To summarize:
  • 53 percent of Fortune 500 companies have a public facing corporate blog. That's up 11 percent from the previous year.
  • How do Fortune 500 companies use social media? Roughly 98 percent have a presence on LinkedIn, 91 percent are on Twitter and 89 percent are on Facebook with 77 percent on YouTube.
  • An interesting note: Instagram has seen a significant increase in adoption by Fortune 500 companies--up to 63 percent this year. That's up from 9 percent in 2013.
  • A note: the report is based on channel usage at the corporate level, not the brand level.
